What time are Sunday Services?
We invite you to worship with us In Person on Sundays at 8:30 AM and 11 AM.

What type of services do you offer?
Our worship services are traditional. We sing from hymnals, participate through call and response liturgy, and are led in worship by our clergy and choirs. We welcome all people to worship and invite you to come as you feel comfortable– some people wear suits and ties, others jeans and t-shirts.
Is convenient parking available?
Parking is available in two parking lots, both which can be accessed from Dalrymple Drive. Visitor parking is available in our front lot near our large digital church sign. Handicapped parking is available in both our side lot and our main front lot; the handicapped parking spaces on the side of our sanctuary have convenient access to a push button accessible door and ramp into our sanctuary.
What about my child(ren)?
Children are always welcome in worship; we have worship bags and children’s bulletins available in the narthex. We also have nursery care for infants – 5 years old in Room 106 of the Children’s Building from 8:15-12:15, as well as during regularly scheduled church events. Children are invited to join us for the children’s moment in our service. If you have any specific questions pertaining to our Children’s program, please contact our Director of Children’s Ministry, Sheri Lee, at sheri@universitymethodist.org.
How often is Communion offered?
Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month. At UUMC we practice open communion. All are welcome at the Lord’s table.
How can I get involved?
We invite you to get involved through Sunday School, missions and outreach, small groups, or music ministries.
We have Sunday School for all ages. Children are invited to follow the acolyte out of 8:30 worship for Children’s Choir and Sunday School. Youth are invited to the youth area, and a list of adult classes are available online.
How can I become a member?
If you do not have a church home, we invite you to consider making University United Methodist Church your church home. We recognize the baptism of all Christian churches and welcome members by profession of faith, reaffirmation of faith or transfer of church membership from other churches. For more specific information on becoming a member, please contact the church office to speak to one of our Ministers.

Rev. Katie came to UUMC as our Senior Pastor in July 2020. Despite the challenges of beginning ministry among us in the midst of a pandemic, she was (and still is!) elated to return to lead a vibrant congregation in her own hometown. She was born and raised in Baton Rouge and graduated from Baton Rouge Magnet High School. Rev. Katie is a graduate with a B.A. in Religious Studies and Sociology from Centenary College of Louisiana and received her MDiv from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL. For fifteen years, she has served as a pastor, community leader, and planter of new ministries among Louisiana congregations located in Bossier City and Lake Charles, now serving for a second time here in Baton Rouge. She presently provides leadership on the Annual Conference, Jurisdictional and global levels of The United Methodist Church. Rev. Katie is committed to continuing the rich history of UUMC while also growing our partnerships in the surrounding community and LSU's campus life.
Rev. Katie is married to Taylor Simpson, a native of Shreveport, LA, and graduated with a B.S. and Masters in Biomedical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University. He is presently employed as the Director of Information Technology for an aviation completions business, Citadel Completions in Lake Charles. On Sundays, you might catch him in the back of the sanctuary serving faithfully as a member of the live stream team. They have three children – a daughter, Eva, two sons, Jack and Sam.
